Meet the Doctors: Jeff Weingardt, MD
How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
I decided to pursue medicine in my 9th grade year after a long conversation with my mother, a registered nurse. She made me realize that I had aptitude for it. For as long as I can remember, I knew I was destined for a career in a science field just based on my fundamental fascination with all things scientific. How many kids get a microscope for Christmas during their 1st grade year and then punch themselves in the nose to get a blood sample to look at?
What do you like most about your job?
I love solving a diagnostic puzzle, putting the clues together and figuring out what’s behind a patient’s problem. Diagnostic imaging doesn’t figure it out all the time, but it’s pretty important in directing a patient’s care.
What is your favorite way to spend free time?
Gardening is a passion. I also like cooking and bicycle touring in Europe.
What do you like most about working at RIA?
The team spirit between radiologists, helping each other out on cases and with schedules. I’ve also been very impressed with the company organization and esprit de corps of the staff and leadership.
