Meet the Doctors: Elizabeth Maddox, MD

How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?

Growing up, I was inspired by my mom, who was a postpartum nurse; she enjoyed her job and found it to be gratifying. I was open-minded when I went to college and even chose to major in finance; however, after a few years in business, I realized I enjoy science, anatomy in particular. I decided to change direction and pursue a career in medicine.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the variety my job provides. I like performing procedures and interacting with patients, but I also like reading studies and working with other physicians when troubleshooting challenging cases or during tumor board.

What is your favorite way to spend free time?

I enjoy road biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and spending time with my family in Colorado Springs.

What do you like most about working at RIA?

Working for RIA has allowed me to become subspecialized so that I can spend more time working in breast imaging.
